Once in a while you may need to block particular third parties from accessing your sites. There are a number of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for instance, and create fake visits and online traffic. Additionally, there are spammers who leave links to suspicious websites as comments to website articles. Such things may drastically undermine your hard work, because nobody likes to visit a site with countless fake comments, not to mention that the increased traffic from both spammers and bots can create high load on the web server in which your Internet site is hosted, which could result in your site not working properly. One of the best solutions in cases like this is to block the IP addresses that generate the fake traffic, as a way to make sure that the visits to your Internet site are legitimate.
IP Blocking in Shared Website Hosting
If you have a shared website hosting account with us and you want to block one or a few IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, that's incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia CP. Through a very simple interface, you'll be able to restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to perform that is to log inside to your Control Panel, to check out the IP Blocking section, to select a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You will not need to do anything challenging if you'd like to block an entire network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed in the same exact section, so you'll be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with a mouse click.
IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will allow you to solve the issue with unwanted traffic very easily and quickly. It features an IP blocking tool in which you can add IP addresses with several mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains that you have within the account shall be listed in a drop-down menu, so you simply have to select the one you need and then type the IP address which has to be blocked. If you want to block a whole range, a C-class network for instance, you just need to input the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. This shall block all 254 addresses, so you'll not have to type in them by hand. Because all the IPs you include in this section will be listed, you can easily unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button associated with the given IP.
