Spam Filters
Get familiar with e-mail spam filters, what they do and how you can activate them.
A spam filter is an app that stops unwanted messages from entering a given mailbox. An enormous percentage of the email correspondence around the globe is composed of spam email messages: offers for pills or cash, forged banking notifications, etc. For this reason, it’s pretty important to activate filters to avoid not only unsolicited bulk emails, but also any chance of being conned somehow. Spam filters detect different things, so as to deliver better security – particular words or the frequency with which they surface in the text, the sender’s email address, or the IP of the sender’s outgoing mail server. Web hosts often rely on the services of 3rd-party spam-detecting organizations that provide up-to-date databases in order to make email filtering simpler and more efficient without affecting legitimate email messages, even if they include suspicious words.

Spam Filters in Shared Website Hosting
If you get a shared website hosting package from us and if you make use of our mail services, you will be able to set up spam filters for any of the mailboxes that you set up from the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel. With just several clicks, you can pick between five different security levels. If you start getting spam, you can begin with the lowest level and then gradually raise the level till you stop getting spam. We use one of the very best and most famous spam filters available on the market called SpamAssassin. It checks the header field and the body of each email that you receive and determines a spam score, based on which it either deletes a specific message or permits it to enter your inbox. The Hepsia Control Panel will also allow you to activate custom email filters and either get rid of undesired email messages or forward them to a third-party email address like spam@domain.com where you can view them once again at a later time.
- Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Hosting
In case you use one of our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, you will not have to worry about spam emails filling up your mailboxes every now and then, as you can resort to the popular SpamAssassin filter that we provide with each and every semi-dedicated account. Our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel will permit you to activate the filter for any email account with a couple of clicks and you can choose one of the 5 safety levels – from very high to very low. The level can be altered at any time if, for example, genuine messages get blocked, or if spam email messages go through and appear in your inbox. To take no chances, you can choose all filtered messages to be delivered to a special mailbox such as spam@your-domain.com and not to be deleted. In this way, you can check them every now and then to make sure that you haven’t omitted a legitimate email. - Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Hosting
